The 3 basic parts of our fit process:
The
Interview
All preliminary measurements are taken at this point.
We
start off with the basics: height, inseam, and
shoulder width. We set
up the Size cycle to a
"starting point" - basically a generalized frame size
thea't close enough for you to warm up on. Except
the
starting point has a saddle, bar, pedals, and
shifters that are similar or
indentical to yours. While
you warm up on the size cycle, our fit
specialist
observes your technique and conducts the fit
interview.
We talk about your flexibility, age, work
and other activities to determine
what you wish to
achieve.
The Positional
Assessment
We look in depth at all points of contact between
your body and the bike. We examine your feet and shoes. We observe the
relationship between your legs, your pedals and your upper body. Are you
sitting too high? Are your knees tracking properly? Is your current
position causing pain? Are you looking for more power? What do you
want from your position? We narrow the focus from an overall "fit opinion"
to a quantifiable, scientific assessment of the relationship between your body
and bike.
Changes and recommendations
After we've thoroughly
examined all aspects of your bike position and adjusted them around you, we
discuss what parts, if any, should be changed on your current bike (or talk
about a new bike, if that's the path you're on.) Recommendations may
include handlebar shape/width, stem length/angle, seat post
length/material/setback, crank length and/or saddle replacement. Common
solutions to various problems include angular wedges (LeMond LeWedge) to
accommodate forefoot varus/valgus as well. We stock a huge assortment of
replacement parts to get you riding quickly.
